What Do You Want for Christmas?

October 28, 2008 · 2 Comments

I wrote this over at Shak & Jill and I really do want an answer.  What do you think?

It’s that time of year again … time for Realtors from across the country to pick out what they’re going to mail their clients for Christmas!

Do I choose the old refrigerator calendar so I can slap my business card on top, thereby allowing the people on my mailing list to look at my goofy picture all year?  The cost is .41 cents each, plus .42 to mail.

Or should I splurge and invest in a CD that has Christmas songs?  That cost is $1.75 each and will also cost .42 to mail.  Expensive, but much more memorable.

A friend of mine heard me pondering this the other day and yelled across the room, “The Christmas CD! I hate those calendars!”  It may be time for me to splurge.

Have you ever received a gift from a business around the holidays that was truly memorable and appreciated?  What would you like?

Make A Difference Day Helps Community

October 27, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I volunteered along with a group of personal friends on Saturday morning for “Make a Difference Day” in Rutherford County.  My friends and I were assigned to lend a hand at two homes belonging to the elderly.  At the first home, we washed windows (inside & out), changed all the batteries for the smoke alarms, washed a gigantic mirror in the dining room, and cleaned all the ceiling fans.

My friend Michelle and I were there with four girls who are learning the importance of giving back to community.  I was so proud of both my daughters and the other two girls who lent their support.

Cartoon Satire of Our Spending Habits is Too True

October 21, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I just saw this cartoon that satirizes the spending habits of many Americans today and it’s kind of scary in that I can imagine it as really happening.

The whole cartoon by Ruben Bolling who writes Tom the Dancing Bug can be found here at Salon, but here is a panel.

The family decides to move to California to pick fruit.  The rest of the comic is so close to the truth that I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.  Excellent job, Mr. Bolling.  Go see now.  Go.

And the Reason Is…

October 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The reason the post below is password protected is because I previewed a home for someone out-of-state.  Because it’s not my listing, I felt uncomfortable about displaying photos without the permission of the homeowner or listing agent.  AND there were too many photos to email so I thank the internet for the opportunity to park them here.

If you are interested in moving to one of the Top 10 Places to Retire (SMYRNA), feel welcome to contact me and I’ll be happy to arrange tours of homes that fit your needs, budget, and tastes!

The Referral Network

October 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment

A good friend of mine from Lexington, Kentucky recently emailed to say she bought her grandmother’s home after she passed away.  But my friend still had her own home to sell and because of the wavering real estate market, she wanted my help in finding a Realtor who really knew her area and had successfully sold in her neighborhood.

I gave some advice, then asked if I could refer her to an agent.  She graciously agreed so I sent her information to our relocation department at Bob Parks Realty.  Very quickly they found an agent for her who met all her requirements.  To top it off, I was entered into a weekly drawing for a gift card and the next day became the first person from my company to win from Leading Real Estate Companies of the World.  This tickles me because I’m required to spend $100 on fall product sales for my daughter’s baton twirling class (mandatory for teams and parade corps members).

My point is, if you know anyone who is about to move – buying or selling – from any state, please contact me.  I can help find you a Realtor who can meet very specific needs you, your family or friends may have through our relocation department.  I *love* local referrals when I get to work directly with the people you know, but I also appreciate any out-of-sate or out-of-area referrals as well.

Thank you!
